The Blood of Dawnwalker · Core Mechanic
Separate from loot and legendary gear, Coen can brew his own consumables from what he forages and hunts. Here's how the Crafting Panel works, what's worth making, and why it beats relying on food alone.
Crafting in this game is strictly about consumables — potions, tonics, balms, and similar single-use items made through the Crafting Panel. It doesn't touch weapons or armor; those come from loot, quests, and merchants instead, covered in our weapon arts & legendary weapons guide.
The crafting loop, start to finish
Food's effectiveness is reduced when you use it in combat. Crafted consumables don't have that penalty — they keep their full effect whether you're drinking a tonic mid-fight or between engagements. That alone makes crafting worth investing in rather than relying on whatever food you happen to be carrying.

Recipes call for foraged botanicals, creature parts, spirits, and specialized reagents — simpler recipes need 2-3 ingredients, advanced ones 4 or more. Most recipes let you craft up to 5 items per session. The one confirmed exception is the Razkovniche Elixir, which can only be made one at a time, so budget your ingredients accordingly if you're relying on it.
Practical takeaway: pick up crafting recipes and materials opportunistically while exploring rather than farming for them directly, then lean on crafted consumables — not food — for anything you expect to use mid-fight, since food's combat penalty makes it a worse safety net than it looks.
Can Coen craft weapons and armor?
No — crafting is consumables only. Weapons and armor come from loot, quests, and merchants.
Are crafted items better than food?
For combat use, yes — crafted consumables keep their full effect mid-fight, while food is weakened in combat.
How many items can you craft at once?
Most recipes cap at 5 per session; the Razkovniche Elixir is limited to 1 at a time.
